AB  - It  is  hard  to  believe  that  more  than  20  years  have  passed  since  the  first  edition  of  this  volume  was  published  in  1994.  It  has  been  a  fascinating  process  analyzing  the  situation  in  2017  and  comparing  it  to  years  past.  And  it's  been  heartening  to  see  the  many  ways  in  which  older  adults  around  the  world  have  seen  improvements  in  their  circumstances.  At  the  same  time,  the  ongoing  challenges  are  sobering  for  those  of  us  in  health  care.
