A2 - Clendaniel, Richard A. PY - 2014 T2 - Vestibular Rehabilitation AB - Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) has been defined as damage to the brain, resulting from an external force such as an impact, penetration from a projectile object, rapid acceleration/deceleration forces, or blast waves. Brain function can be disrupted temporarily or permanently, and structural damage may or may not be identified using current imaging techniques. Given the trauma to the head and the location of the vestibular end organs, TBI can result in vestibular impairment. The impairment may be caused by peripheral damage to the end organ, central damage at the cerebellar or cortex level, or a combination of both. This chapter outlines the unique considerations for the management of those with vestibular impairment and TBI. SN - PB - F. A.
