James W. Bellew, PT, EdD, MS is Professor of Physical Therapy in the Krannert School of Physical Therapy at the University of Indianapolis. Dr. Bellew received his entry-level Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Marquette University. After two years of clinical practice in Milwaukee, he received a Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy and Doctor of Education degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Kentucky. His research encompasses the use of electrotherapeutic waveforms and muscle physiology. Dr. Bellew has published more than 75 peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts and abstracts in the areas of electrotherapy, exercise training, balance, and muscle physiology. He teaches in the areas of clinical medicine, therapeutic modalities, and human physiology. He is a regular presenter and speaker at the APTA’s Combined Sections Meetings and is routinely sought nationally and internationally for consultation regarding clinical applications of electrotherapeutic agents. In 2019, he received the Award of Excellence from the Academy of Clinical Electrophysiology and Wound Management for exemplary contributions advancing the science and practice of electrotherapeutic and biophysical agents. Dr. Bellew resides with his family in Indianapolis and maintains a regular part-time clinical practice at St. Francis Hospital.
Thomas Patrick Nolan Jr., PT, MS, DPT, OCS, is Associate Professor of Physical Therapy at Stockton University. Dr. Nolan received his BS in Physical Therapy from New York University and his MS and DPT in Physical Therapy from Temple University. He is a certified orthopedic specialist (OCS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. Dr. Nolan teaches physical modalities, electrotherapy, kinesiology of the spine, musculoskeletal physical therapy for neck and back pain, and pharmacology at Stockton University where he is also the coordinator of physical therapy continuing education courses. He is a per diem physical therapist for Virtua In Motion outpatient offices located throughout southern New Jersey. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), including the New Jersey Chapter, Academy of Clinical Electrophysiology and Wound Management, and the Orthopaedic Section. Tom lives in Marlton, NJ, where he enjoys spending time with his family at home and summers in Ocean City, NJ.
