Crawford Small Parts Dexterity Test
++
A performance test that uses the manipulation of small tools under standardized conditions to measure fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination.

A slow and inefficient mode of movement, such as is seen in early childhood, in which the hands and knees are on the floor, and much of the effort of forward movement is generated by the flexion and extension of the shoulders and hips.

simian c. A crease on the palm of the hand, so called because of its similarity to the transverse flexion crease found in some monkeys. Normally the palm of the hand at birth contains several flexion creases, two of which are separate and approx. transverse. When these two appear to fuse and form a single transverse crease, a simian crease is present. The crease may be present in a variety of developmental abnormalities, including Down syndrome, rubella syndrome, Turner syndrome, Klinefelter syndrome, pseudohypoparathyroidism, and gonadal dysgenesis. (krē′ă-tĭn) [Gr. kreas, flesh] C4H9O2N3; a colorless, crystalline substance that can be isolated from various animal organs and body fluids. It combines readily with phosphate to form phosphocreatine (creatine phosphate), which serves as a source of high-energy phosphate released in the anaerobic phase of muscle contraction. Creatine may be present in a greater quantity in the urine of women than in that of men. Creatine excretion is increased in pregnancy and decreased in hypothyroidism.
