AB  - We  will  complete  our  conceptual  framework  of  clinical  research  by  discussing  ethical  issues  related  to  the  conduct  of  human  studies.  We  ask  people  to  participate  as  subjects  in  studies  for  the  purpose  of  gaining  new  knowledge  that  may  or  may  not  have  an  impact  on  their  lives.  Clinical  research  is  conducted  because  we  have  questions  and  do  not  have  the  answers;  therefore,  participation  in  research  may  come  with  some  risk  to  the  health  and  well-being  of  the  subjects.  In  this  society,  we  recognize  a  responsibility  to  research  subjects  for  assuring  their  rights  as  individuals.  Since  the  middle  of  the  20th  century,  the  rules  of  conducting  research  have  been  and  continue  to  be  discussed,  legislated  and  codified.
