Part IV: Physiology of Training: Introduction

++

Part IV of this textbook focuses on the practical application and incorporation of many of the principles presented in earlier chapters. Chapter 13 presents general training principles that can be applied to any of the areas described in the subsequent chapters. Chapters 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 then present the most current research-based training strategies for stability and mobility training (Chapter 14), cardiorespiratory training (Chapter 15), resistance training (Chapter 16), flexibility training (Chapter 17), skill-related training (Chapter 18), and mind-body exercise (Chapter 19). Each of these chapters provides the scientific background related to each type of training, the most up-to-date training guidelines in each of these areas, and specific recommendations on how to systematically design a safe and effective program for clients.
